Chemo Acne
Hello started Chemo on 12/4 I am getting TCH taxotere, Paraplatin and Herceptin Every 3 weeks. So far things been ok Liver test went through the roof but could of been from a blood Thinner I was on so off that for awhile. I also go the next day for a shot neulasta (had some musle ache with that for about 24 hours)
What I need to know is what I can use for my face getting Acne a lot of the stuff out there drys your skin and mine is bad enough with out using that kind of stuff. will talk to the DR on the 18th when I have another app. with him.
Everyone always talks about Hair loss which I think I will be able to deal with that a lot easier then with the Acne I am 52 and starting to look like a teen with no boobs (LOL)
Next Chemo is the 26th...
Thanks Edith

I have been on chemo since September and I have acne too. So annoying. -
Well I just started has not been 2 weeks so I guess its going to get bad..hope your treatments are going good....I feel like a dryed prune right now.. -
Hi gals,
Me two. My face is all blotchy and my skin is wrinkled and oh my so very dry. What are you ladies using to help? -
Edith- I had acne too after the first treatment (Taxotere and Cytoxan), but it cleared after the second treatment and I had the clearest skin I have ever had through the remainder of chemo. Chemo kills fast growing cells and the bacteria that causes acne is fast growing. Sadly, I am 3 years past chemo and having the worst breakouts of my life at 48! Can't seem to find anything to get it under control! -
My face exploded within 48hrs of my first Taxotere/Carboplatin/Herceptin treatment. We joked that all the teenage boys in the village were queuing up to ask me on a date, as my acne matched theirs!
I was prescribed Aqueous Cream but not sure how much it helped. I did not use my normal facial scrub but a more gentle one instead.
Even so, at age 49, I now have at least 3 "acne scars" when I managed to avoid all that as a spotty teenager. Such is life!

Thanks for the comments..right now just Ivory soap and then usuing a light lotion until I see the DR on Wed and see maybe he knows of something..If not guess I will have to put up with it for awhile..With it being the winter the dry skin can be normal but not as bad as it is now...Guess just lots of lotion for the skin will let all know if they tell me something to use..Thanks Again -
I use products from LA Roche posay. The stuff my mom persvribed had parabens. Yuk. Product rank fairly well on skin deep an the PS recommended it. I use face wash and the anti redness cream and sunscreen during the day and retin a and a heavy cream at night. I spot treat with acne cream. Make sure to ck fb page or or search for coupons. There usually are some.

my DR said this is from the steroids that they give before Chemo just to use a middle soapsomething that won't dry the skin out he said the same as everyone here that it should pass if it doesn't he will give a scrip for something we both agreed to hold off already taking too many meds and so far it has started to clear up next treatment is the 26th...

Hello all, started Taxotere/Cytoxan on the 7th. It's nice to be able to just go to my computer, type one of my side effects into the search engine and...Hello...you're not alone. Within 4 days of my first treatment I have 7 new zits! I haven't had 7 zits in the past 6 months combined! I thought this stuff was going to "dry me out". I was not expecting this little surprise. In a couple weeks my hair should start falling out and my face will be all broken out...fabulous! Just kick me while I'm down. Thanks for your posts...at least I know it's normal. The new normal, that is.
"This too shall pass."

After my first treatment, my back, chest and face broke out....bad! Onc said it was the steroids. He prescribed clindamycin phosphate topical lotion. It does the trick!
