    please do not let them put a titanium pin marker in breast just ask for a normal biopsy. I was allergic to tiny titanium pin it set off an infection as my body was rejecting it like you would if a tiny sliver was in your finger.this is my advice took antibiotics but did not help staphinfection just got worse and my biopsy was neg benign. Now since I have had melanoma in a mole it traveled to breast infection and has reactivated due to infection in breast. I know about this because I was once a nurse.

    Carrol, the markers are necessary. They are the same metal used in hip replacements and other medical devices. Allergies to this are virtually nonexistent. I'm sorry you are having some kind of difficulty, but please don't come on here & scare & try to deter other women from following their doctor's very sensible recommendations. An infection would more likely be caused by the procedure itself, bacteria not cleaned well offyour skin, or any number of things beside. the marker.
