Inappropriate gift

We had secret santa in my office and the person buying the gift knew whom it was for. The gift was supposed to be for less that five dollars. And I get three bandannas! Considering a year and half ago I was walking around wearing these I thought it was completely inappropriate. I have hair now and I would really like to not remember the bald days. In fact as soon as I saw it I was depressed.Then I find out it is my boss. I am stumped.

TOTALLY TACTLESS. I wonder whether I could fight back tears if I were given this...by my boss. Don't let it get you down, and enjoy your hair. All my sympathy.

Wow. No words to describe the lack of ... can't even find a word for what that is. Ugh. I'd give my gift back. "Thanks but um', yeah, no thanks !"

Probably a stupid question, but your boss did understand that you were wearing them because of hair loss, and not fashion, right?

Good question by the mods. Also, while your boss could have been more tactful, maybe he/she thought you looked good in bandannas, and thought you liked them. Unless there's a history of hostility or other back issues from your boss, I'd chalk it up to good intentions gone hideously wrong, and donate them to a local charity.
