Taxotere - Delayed over WBC AGAIN!I

I have been struggling with low WBC for my entire treatment. Is it even worth doing the last treatment after a 2 week delay?

Now that I have made it to my last chemo I am going on 2 weeks delay because of my WBC.

1st FEC resulted in WBC .8

(delayed a week - WBC went to 9)

2nd FEC WBC 2.1 did 7 days Neupogen

3rd FEC WBC 1.4 did 10 days Neupogen

1st Taxotere WBC 1.2 did 10 days Neupogen

2nd Taxotere WBC 1.02 did 10 days Neupogen

(delayed a week - WBC .02)

(delayed another week - WBC .66)

AND here I sit waiting till next week....is it worth it?!?

Not sure hockeymom: you sure have been through the wringer with daily injections (I had the single Neulasta shot post-chemo) so I can see why it would be nice to be done! Have your doctors given you that option?

Even when delayed, I would think that the medication should still be active in terms of killing any rogue cells left. Timing is really sort of arbitrary due to patient tolerance, original efficacy/study design and other factors. Ongoing investigations are trying to determine optimal dosages & intervals for various therapies.

You certainly know the risk of infection if you bottom out again. Sounds like you've been spared that complication but I was hospitalized and put on antibiotics for fever of unknown origin. That was 10 days following my final infusions...
