Hi - my mom was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and is looking for good surgeons in the NYC area.  Can anyone recommend a good surgeon based on their experience? 

Her doctor recommended a surgeon at NY Hospital but she's had a hard time getting an appointment for a consultation and I think it would be beneficial to get a second opinion.  We will try to look into Sloan Kettering, Mt. Sinai, Beth Israel, etc. 

We would prefer NYC hospitals because it would be difficult for her to travel outside of NYC for surgery.  My mom would have to travel to most doctor's appointments by herself.  Her children (including myself) live far from NY so we will take turns visiting her during her surgery and recovery.   Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I was treated at MSK for anal cancer in 3008 and they saved my life.  I was just diagnosed with poorly differentiated invasive ductal carcinoma and would never consider any other hospital than MSK.  They treated me like gold from the top doctors to the parking attendants.  They also have the most advanced cutting edge treatments and use the latest protocols, often developed by their own research.
