oophrectomy at 35

Hi Im brca 2 just had a preventive direct to implant mastectomy and now I am weeks away from oophorectomy. I'm nervous. I lost my mom to ovarian cancer and know I am doing the right thing but wanted to hear peoples experiences with this surgery pre menopausal I'm 35 . Did anyone go on Effexor? Advice thanks...

If you have not been to the FORCE forums, I highly recommend them:

I have not had an ooph myself, but there are many women there who have had (or are having) a prophylactic oopherectomy due to BRCA 1/2 mutations, or other hereditary breast and ovarian cancer risks. Many of them are pre-menopausal and have shared on those forums there own experiences with surgical menopause. I do know some of them do take hormone replacement, particularly if they also had the PBMX, and I have seen mention of Effexor being prescribed for hot flashes before.

I just did a search there for "Effexor" in the forums and came up with 29 pages of results, including threads like "Young Women Who had Ooph...How Did it Change You?" but I also guarantee you can start your own thread in the main forum with questions and people will respond!
