Taxol before AC for IDC, ER/PR+, HER-???
Hi everyone,
I'm 33 and I was newly diagnosed with IDC (2 weeks ago) and my onco is recommending chemo before surgery. I'm scheduled to have a port put in on Thursday and he wants me to start Taxol weekly for 12 weeks, then AC every 2 weeks, 4 times total. I've been trying to find any research or anyone that has had experience with having Taxol first? I'm having trouble finding anything or anybody that has done it this way. My cancer center is affiliated with MD Anderson.
Thanks!

My tumor is about 3.4 cm, ER/PR pos, HER-, and my MRI has shown that its in at least 3 lymph nodes. I'm also scheduled for a PET scan this Friday. -
I am on the September 2013 chemo thread and there are women on there that did taxol first and then AC. I think at least 2. Check it out (in the chemo forum) - maybe one of them can help you out.

I had Taxol first. I have 2 treatments to go and then I start FEC. I am being treated at MD Anderson. -
I started with Taxol first which was required by a clinical study that I am taking part in. I will have 12 weekly Taxol treatments, followed by surgery and then the last 8 weeks of AC. Tomorrow is my 5th Taxol treatment. I am 35 years old and was diagnosed in October with triple negative breast cancer. When I first found the lump, the original biopsy measured 2cm. The day of my first treatment, the mass was measuring 4 x 41/2cm. I am happy to say that the mass measured 2.3 x 3cm last weekAfter getting numerous opinions I can tell you that all stated that the order of the chemo drugs does not matter, what does matter is that you receive all of the treatments! I hope that this helps.

Hi, Being that you guys have or had Taxol first. Did you at all experience hair loss while doing Taxol only? I'm okay with losing hair. I'm just curious approximately when for anyone with Taxol first hair loss or thinning began. I like mentally preparing myself. Yes, I've gone out here to search, but most have the AC first. Thank you all in advance! Much love warrior sisters!

Your Dr is the one to ask why your TX plan is Taxol first. There is always research being done and protocohols changing. It's been 7+ yrs since I did Chemo - I did DD A/C neoadjuvant and 12 weekly Taxol adjuvant.
On AC, I lost head hair and about 1/2 of brows, lashes and other bodily hair. On Taxol, the little bit of remaining hair all 'left'.
