Stage III Cancer Survivors .... 10+ Years and Out
Comments

What date do you all use for your cancerversary?
-
I use the date I was diagnosed. Some people use the date they finished treatment.
-
I'd go by what your onc considers your cancerversary since that's what they use to count how many years you are out.
Mine goes by dx date, which is my mom's birth date so very easy to remember.
-
I did neoadjuvant treatment and I start from the date of my surgery. Scanned last week and now nearly three years NED.
-
hi all!
Just wanted to say I've reached 12 years after a really sucky Stage IIIC BC diagnosis.
All is thankfully well and
Living large with gratitude, love and a bit of wine ( ok more than a bit) and Harty belly laughs every day.k
Wishing all a gentle road, no one wants to travel down
-
Wow lkc, that is fantastic news! Keep doing whatever you are doing (including the wine 🍷). I have included the vino in my after treatment plan as well. I'm at 10+ years, so maybe we are on to something .
Hope you went out and celebrated your fabulous life!!

Cheers lkc and ck55 🍷 Although I'm just coming up for three years NED, it sounds like I'm on the right treatment path.
-
congrats lkc and ck55. So happy for you and that you care to come back and share with all of us. You ladies rock
-
Thank you for posting, many congrats.
-
Congrats to IKC and CK55 on doing soooo well!! Happy Dance!! To answer the question above I go by DX date, but my MO counts my starting to use the ALs for my five year anniversary.
-
ALWAYS so delighted to see a post of yours, Linda (lkc) and you, too, CK55. Makes me all the more optimistic for a continuation of a wonderful full life. Would love to see posts like these from more Her2+, -er -pr stage 3---the more positive news the better I feel.
Much love and good wishes to all you on this journey that we hadn't planned to be on!!

Eleven years ago today I was diagnosed. Breastcancer.org was my lifeline while I was going through treatment. I still recommend this site to those newly diagnosed. The only time I come here now is on my cancerversary to let others know that life is good. The only reminder of my cancer is the neuropathy in my feet, and it is just a nuisance, not a big problem. Hang in there, the future is waiting for you.
-
CONGRATULATIONS, DATO, on your 11 years-- hope one day to be able to post that! Celebrate!!!! And be grateful for every day!
-
congrats dato. Thank you so much for coming back and updating us. It's very inspiring for us newbies
-
Thank you Dato for coming back and sharing....many more years.
-
Just hopping in to post my eleven-year cancerversary which I celebrated April 28th (it happened to fall on a Friday again). So happy to be able to share this with my stage III sisters - I was hungry for this kind of story when I was a newbie too!
Best - Julie
-
I, too, was hungry for stories like DATO's, back 14 years ago, and there weren't any. Sugarplum's word "hungry" is just right.
What is very cool is, I just realized survivors like Sugar Plum, IKC, Yatcomw--WE ARE THE STORY now.
Looking forward to my rather lonely "15 years and out" thread getting filled up in the next couple of years....
Love, admiration and gratitude for the brave survivors who come here for hope. . Weesa
-
Thank you sugarplum!!!! Great news and I hope you are enjoying many walks on the beach.
-
Thank you all so much for coming back and sharing these stories. At not even a year out it helps my outlook so much to hear them!
-
congrats ladies. Yes. You are helping all of us newer bc gals stay sane knowing there is hope. It really means so much that you keep us updated. Hugs to you....
-
13 years !!! still looking to post on the 15+ year thread in a couple more years
-
Awesome Jenni!!!!
-
yessss jenni!!!
-
hi ladies. Writing on here to thank you all for sharing your encouraging stories. When my mom was diagnosed I thought my life was ending but positivity and prayer go along way.
I am so beyond happy for all of you who have reached that 10 year mark, though every milestone is an accomplishment.
For the women on here who were concerned about there not being more 10+ yr survivors, I will say a lot of women have either forgotten or moved on and just don't write anymore. My grandmother had 3 sisters all of which were diagnosed in the 80's and were in the advanced stages. They battled like hell and not one of them passed from thins disease. Unfortunately they were all in their 80's so has no idea this website existed lol. But believe me surviors are amongs US everwhere
-
i think it's so great that you guys come back and post good news for all of us to know there is hope. Thank you so much
-
Coming back to let you all know I am celebrating 11 years cancer free today. Woke up at 5:00 AM with myanniversary on my mind. I started thinking about all that had happened in those 11 years that were not cancer related (both good and bad). I started crying because I was so grateful for all the things I had not missed.
Feeling very blessed. 🙏

Thank you ck55 for coming back and sharing your wonderful news!! II years is a gift and it sounds like you are very grateful for them. Now on to many more years to come!!
-
Congrats Cyndi! Thanks so much for sharing!!!! Here's to 11 more!
-
Congratulations!! This is a wonderful thread and gives so much hope to me
-
Gabrielle - Congratulations! Please tell me what you did/do to be a 15-year survivor. I am fairly optimistic about my own future (dx in 2016), but LOVE to hear survivorship stories - so tell me your secret!
