    Hi All,

New to this.  Going to my doctor soon.  I'm not certain she'll be mine forever as she only keeps patients if they take the yearly mammo.

I'm not certain what is going on with my breasts, just yet, but I'll find out soon.  I've got new symptoms and have been on the watch list after they found something (s) the first one.  I never got my records nor my follow up results.  That's another story.  But, when I see her, what kinds of questions should I ask her about alternative therapy?  I do want to go for the ultrasound to know just what I'm dealing with, but I know in my heart, I don't want to go through traditional med.  I already have another disorder that I tried the holistic approach and I just couldn't do it without my medications.  I still can't and don't know if I ever will.  If BC can be dealt with holistically, I would rather travel that road.  Truly, after what I've gone through and what my family has been through with my other condition, I just don't see the pain of testing and drugs that will poison and pain me anymore.

Boy, I'm long-winded.  If I can catch a ride, I'll see my doc Friday or next week.  What kinds of questions should I ask her?  I am on a boatload of other meds for my neuro disorder, so my Vitamin D is up there for that reason.  She isn't happy about that.  I know my estrogen is 'through the roof' as she has said.  But, I just want to have my ducks in a row.

Can I have a little help?  I am clueless with all of this terminology.

    Thank you.

O and I'm off to a ball game now, so I'll check messages later.  Thank you.

The amino acid methionine is not produced by the body and is required by cancer cells. But so do we. A low methionine diet of 15mg per kg of ideal body weight is what you should aim for long term to control access by cancer cells.

Chicken and fish have high levels of methionine. Beef, eggs, and milk have less. But cheese can be high, especially parmesan.

    Do some research on it.

This happens with the chicken pox virus as well. As soon as you have eggs or fish/chicken, the poxes go crazy. Happened to me when I got it as an adult. Was eating vegan, and then I thought maybe I should have an egg...and whooo!

If you are deficient in methionine your hair goes grey. My aunt has been going grey since her 30s and in her 70s went completely grey. Recently she has been getting dark roots and she now is on a vegetarian diet with some fish and cheese.

I decided to avoid chemo and radiation to mop up stray cancer cells after a mastectomy. No node involvement though it was a big 10cm invasive lobular carcinoma. CT scan is clear and hoping the bone scan will be too. Going to take Letrazole as it was ER+. But I am also taking a daily low dose aspirin, having a breakfast of a tablespoon of nigella sativa oil with broccolli sprouts on a slice of bread, followed by one sqeezed orange with vitamin c. Then green tea, I just have a handful of nuts for lunch, mainly macadamia (v low in methionine) or a salad sandwich, and then dinner could be just a fruit of steamed vegetables, chilli garlic mushrooms with a couple of quail eggs. the key idea is to keep protein and methionine in particular low. Avoiding alcohol at the moment, And it is bringing my weight down slowly. I will start eating more later (have the odd falafel role for dinner) but for the moment, I am trying to prevent any stray cells that got disturbed by the operation from establishing themselves.

I suspect that low methionine is the key to all the fasting and mono diet success stories we hear. If it comes to that, it is what i will try.

I have also heard that beetroot (powder may be best) is also effective in providing calories and nutrition with cancer fighting qualities. Again an anecdotal story from a friend who knew a doctor who used it.

Remember, you are trying to starve out the cancer without killing off your nicer cells. If methionine is too low for too long, you can have liver damage. So it would be good to check in with a doc,

Hi all. Looks like this thread has not been active for a long time. The original post was in 2013. However IMO an important one. I refused anti hormone treatment from the start. I had a BMX but no other treatment. I lost 30 pounds and try to exercise daily. I take DIM in leu of an aromatase inhibitor plus other supplements. So far so good. I'm almost 3 years NED. Good luck to all

    Hi All-

I have not been able to find an answer to my question online, so thought I would check here since Nigella Sativa has been mentioned in some of the alternative therapy posts. I am taking tamoxifen( with little breaks here and there), and just started taking black seed oil (Nigella sativea) . Does anyone know of any negative interactions between the two of these? The info I found online mostly gives interactions with other prescribed medications, and I have not seen this listed. Thank you in advance for any info you can provide.
