Tired of waiting

This is going to be a "whine". Please feel free to skip!

I've always struggled with being patient. I am not a patient patient.

I've had a CAT scan for radiation purposes. Then I was told I should have an MRI. Now, I'm told I should see a med onc prior to radiation. I've already been seen by the rad onc. Why? I just want to start radiation and get it over with. I just keep having to see someone else.

Today I got a call that I should have genetic counseling because I am "young" (under 50). I don't mind, I suppose, but is that going to delay my radiation even more?

Ok. I'm done whining. Thanks for being there to let me vent!

Mouse, at least meeting with a med onc is pretty standard. It sounds like no one told you that sooner, but it should be part of your care. As far as the genetic counseling, I'd be surprised if being under 50 alone will indicate a need for genetic counseling. Without a strong family history, I'm guessing your genetic counseling may amount to a phone interview to determine you don't really need it.

And as frustrating as these last minute changes and delays can be, just remember that's it's all in your best interest, and far better to have one more medical professional looking at your case, just to be sure nothing important is missed. That would be far worse!

Hang in there! It sounds like barring something unforeseen, you'll be onto radiation very soon and done with it all in just a few weeks. (((Hugs))), and try to enjoy Thanksgiving! Deanna
