Hi, I am a 7 1/2 year survivor. All of a sudden, this past Sunday, my left breast (which is the one I had a partial mastectomy on) started to ache. It has been aching since then, sore at times also and I feel it under my arm and a little in my neck also. I am so scared. I woke up in the middle of the night last night to it lightly throbbing. I called my breast surgeon's office and they are seeing me this afternoon. It is weird, but this breast feels different than the other. Hard to explain. Did I say I was scared???

Hi Candie - It sounds as if you are doing the right thing seeing the surgeon as that is really the only way that you will find out whether something is or isn't wrong. From what I have read, people can have many different reactions many, many years after surgery, particularly if they had radiation. I hope it turns out to be nothing. Please let us all know when you find out.

Thank you Ziggypop for responding. The surgeon says it is nothing to worry about. She said exactly what you said that many years later this can happen especially if one had radiation. Thank you again so much for reaching out to me.

just saw this, about 2 years after surgery/rads my breast grew bright red and hurt - I went to the radiation oncologist who said it was a reaction to radiation - I think he prescribed Aleve!!! and it cleared up. good luck to you Candie1971 - hope yours is nothing to worry about and resolves quickly, too
