Neulasta Shot on the same day as Infusion??
I am starting chemo tomorrow. I am doing 4 rounds of dose dense AC every two weeks followed by 12 weekly taxol. The nurse said I will be getting my neulasta shot tomorrow after infusion. I have been reading a lot of posts where the shot was given the next day. Is it odd that I am getting the shot on the day of infusion? This concerns me. Thanks!

The Neulasta shot is administered 24 hours after the infusion. Here is a link to chemocare.com that has an easy to understand description of Neulasta. http://chemocare.com/chemotherapy/drug-info/Neulasta.aspx .. When you go in for your infusion tomorrow, just ask the onco or infusion nurses to clarify that the Neulasta shot will be given to you on Friday and not tomorrow. Sounds like the nurse just didn't tell you exactly when you would be receiving the Neulasta but only told you that it would be administered after chemo.
I received my Neulasta shot 24 hours after my chemo round and had them adminiistered in my tummy area. It is one of the few times I can actually say that I am glad to have some tummy fat. So here is brief description of my getting a Neulasta shot. The infusion nurse would have me hold the injection device in my hand to warm it up. The Neulasta shot is refrigerated. After it was warmed up, she would inject it slowly into my tummy/abdominal area. There was a small sting at first but then before I knew it, she was done. After the first Neulasta shot, I had to wait for about 15-20 minutes to see if I would have any reaction. Fortunately, I didn't and so after that, I would just leave after getting the shot.
I also took regular 24 hour Claritin the morning that I received my afternoon shot of Neulasta. There is an on going clinical trial that is investigating Claritin as a medication to help prevent the bone pain caused by the Neulasta/Neupogen. I followed the drug protocal of the clinical trial and took the Claritin for at least 7 days beginning the day that I received the shot. I didn't have any bone pain from the Neulasta but did experience some msucle aches and pains which I attributed as a chemo side effect.
Wishing the best tomorrow!!!

Thanks Melrose for clarifying. I am anxious about tomorrow. Thanks for your good wishes! -
Mine were the next day. I can not remember if it was in my arm or hip. I think in my arm though. Because the chemo room is too crowded to be showing my chunky hips.. LOL -
My mom has been getting Neulasta the day after her A/C chemo. Will she continue to get the shot after each weekly Taxol? Her first T is tomorrow.
