Waiting on the Oncotype Dx Results
After my annual mammogram in July I was diagnosed with micro calcifications that required follow up. I went for a second opinion and the radiologist recommended a biopsy. The biopsies came back positive and after consulting with a breast surgeon it was recommended that I would need a mastectomy.(Stage 1 ER+) I had a right mastectomy on November 1 with tissue expanders at the same time.I was also referred to an oncologist to discuss my treatment plan and she encouraged me to submit to the Oncotype Dx test. My appointment was set for November 21 to discuss my test results but then I get a phone call that my results are in and she would like to see me sooner. I will see her tomorrow. Now I am totally bummed out because all along I was led to believe I wouldn't need chemo or radiation. Now all I can think about is that she will probably say I will need chemo. Its so scary and depressing!

Yes, she may say you need chemo and rads, BUT she could also say you DON'T and she wanted to tell you sooner to save you some stressful days! I will keep my fingers crossed for you that it is good news. Hang in there. Hugs! -
albanypark, nice that you got the results in so quickly. At least you don't have to wait longer! I am waiting for mine also. Supposed to be in on the 14th...this Thursday. I had a lumpectomy, so will be doing radiation, but also hoping no chemo. What is your tumor Grade or do you know? My MO did say if I do need chemo, it will probably be 4 treatments of TC every 3 weeks...
I had a BRAC test done also due to family history, but it is Negative.
It is scarey, I know. I hope you will be celebrating good news tomorrow!

I went to the oncologist yesterday and was so very happy to hear the news my Oncotype dx score was 8. I won't need chemo, just Tamoxifen. Having a breast cancer diagnosis is such a mind blowing thing and then to navigate all the treatments, tests, doctors etc is debilitating and all consuming. Thank you for all of your positive thoughts and prayers. I really believe it makes a difference. -
albanypark, great news for you!!! Just got done with a dental appt. I am hoping my next step is rads, then HT. It is very hard to get through the appts, tests, etc...feels like your life is on hold. I guess it is! I am thankful for my family and friends that help me get through them and for this forum!
