Don't Know the Tumor Grade

Options

Hi All,

There are still so many mysteries surrounding my mom's BC Treatment. Though its been two and half years with no recurrence. I still end up with so many doubts. When mom was diagnosed it was the first time in our family so we did not know much about it so when she got the biopsy done it never talked about the grade and neither the Doc say anything about it. Hence just wanted to know what this report means. If anyone can let me know it would be great. I know this might not be the right forum but too scared to go to a doc...

"Moderately Cellular with cells scattered loosely. Individual cells show moderate cytoplasm and mild pleomorphism.... suggestive of ductal carcinoma."

Without the complete details of the FINAL surgical biopsy, the description "moderately" USUALLY refers to "intermediate" which USUALLY refers to "Grade 2" which is considered the "average" grade...neither aggressive nor slow growing.

Now that your mom is longer than 2 years out, why not ask to see the report? If she was young at diagnosis, you might want to know if she also had genetic testing. These are important questions to ask and you shouldn't be afraid. Your primary care physician and gynecologist should know as much as the details as possible so they could guide your future care.

I wish both you and your mom well!
