edited June 2014 in Lymphedema

haven't been here lately, had an eye opening experience today.

Finally got around to updating my MedicAlert info. Worn it for years. The rep said I should have on my BRACELET no BP, no sticks., left arm. Made sense, never thought of that!

Just thought I'd pass it on.

spookiesmom - my son is a firefighter and I asked him if he knew what lymphedema was, and asked him to survey the other people he works with, they had no clue. Since in a medical emergency these are the folks who might start an IV before you get to the hospital - I elected to put no BP/IV/Needles on my bracelet - they understood that! I also have a Road ID www.roadid.com bracelet with the same, and a shoe tag with it also for my athletic shoes.

I never gave this a thought before today. Had the bracelet for years for all my other stuff. Was just poking around their site, I may need a dog tag too to cover all my stuff.

spookiesmom - some manufacturers have a thing where you can list stuff too numerous for the little space on the bracelet and then emergency personnel can access it by phone or web.

I wear MedicAlert. It's $50 a year, they have ALL my medical conditions, and I have a bunch. All meds, emergency contacts, blood type, living will, it's very complete. It's 24/7. But for some reason, adding the LE escaped me.

I think this is the one I am getting. I think it is the one Kareenie is talking about. Found it on Amazon. Charming Bracelets. Eventually I will add my sulfa and latex allergies to the bracelet.
