I really am at a loss for where to post this so I will try here. Long story short I had a stereotactic biopsy in July, they hit a blood vessel, healing process started showing red, swollen, peau d ' orange skin on the same breast but opposite side. 3 antibiotics later my surgeon feels like all he can do is a skin biopsy to see whats going on. Him or my obgyn do not suspect IBC but to be safe, he biopsied 1 inch of skin on the edge of my areola, where my skin is the thickest. At this point I have this ridge of thick skin. This biopsy comes back saying "leiomyoma." A benign fibroid tumor... found in the uterus. Not at all common to the breast. Of course the tape from the bandages caused my skin to peel, causing more anxiety, and my doctor has been on vacation so I cant question him about this diagnosis yet, and I read online that 25% of ibc isnt seen on biopsy!? They say to trust your gut but I have health anxiety I always think I have everything so it gets very confusing when there are actual reasons to be concerned. So far im guessing lymphedema from the first biopsy which removed a lymph node. I'm just wondering if a 1" skin biopsy is a good enough sample... and has anyone heard of uterine fibroids on breast tissue?
