Barb, it sure is hard on mine. But you can take some precautions to make it less of a problem.

Bring along water and stay REALLY well hydrated, even if it means more potty stops.

Potty stops are a GOOD thing. Use the break to take a brisk walk and to stretch your arms and hands gently but thoroughly.

If you're not driving, elevate your arm on a pillow that you cleverly remember to bring along (in an old pillowcase, since if you're anything like me it's likely to tumble out the door into the dirt when you're clambering out of the car at those potty breaks).

Do some self-mld along the way--remember to be SLOW and GENTLE.

I wear my Solaris garments when traveling by car for long distances, but I live in a valley, so everywhere I go also involves a change of altitude. Wrapping your arm is another alternative.

Some deep abdominal breathing every so often helps too.

Watch out for salty foods at rest stops and restaurants--bring along your own snacks (fruit, unsalted nuts) and consider packing along your own lunch.

Don't forget to keep your LE first aid kit handy--antiseptic wipes for nicks and scratches, topical antibiotic, bandaids. And if you have a prescription of emergency antibiotics, bring that too.

If you'll be outside, sun screen and possibly insect repellent.

And of course I never leave home without a supply of chocolate.  ;-)

Hmmmm, sounds like mounting an expedition, doesn't it? Phooey!!   :-(

    Happy travels anyway!
