Hi Rozem, I had my 3D areola tattoo done by Kyla Gutsche. She is in Peterborough and worth the drive from Toronto. My PS is Dr. Toni Zhong. When Dr. Zhong saw my tattoo, she did a double-take. She could not believe how realistic and natural it looked. She even called in another doctor and a nurse to take a look. She said she would be recommending all her patients to Kyla. The company is called Cosmetic Transformations. She is kind, sweet and a perfectionist. You can find her own story of her journey and her battle with cancer and tattooing on her website.
I believe that she will be off for a while starting in January, but she is worth the wait and the drive. I cannot recommend her enough. -
Wow - sosmom - glad to hear you liked her - I live very close to Peterborough and was wondering about her.
Thanks for the update! If you've posted photos in the picture forum, will you let me know? I'm interested in tattooing done... -
Hi dayzoo,
I have not posted photos, but Kyla's work is top notch, but you do have to pay for it yourself. OHIP and my work insurance did not cover. I believe it was around $700. A lot of money, but I have seen poorly done tattoos and did not want a circular red stamp. It made a world of difference. I had a size difference between my reconstructed nipple and my natural nipple. The tattooing made this difference almost unnoticeable. To be very honest, you would be hard pressed to tell that it is a tattoo.
What makes her work great is the "washing" technique she uses, that adds layers of colour, and the edges of aerola fades softly so there is no hard border, as I have seen in some pics that looks like "stamps". I am a uni, so she did a really good job matching my other side. She does 3D effects with the little glands (bumps) so it looks very realistic. She is also very caring a patient. She even baked cookies!
My first with her tattoo had complications due to my care and the wipes I used. It crusted over badly and the colour did not take well. I have been back twice and I have ecstatic with the results. I know that I can go back for a touch up when the colour starts to fade, which it will. I also trust the pigments / inks she uses and helped develop. She did not charge me for touch ups and stays in touch to make sure I am still happy.
You can tell her I recommended her too. My name is Taranta. -
Thanks Taranta!
Can't believe it's not covered under OHIP, but if it's a well done job, then it's worth it.
Hopefully in a few months I will be ready for it, and will let her know you referred me - thanks again!

I think OHIP covers it if it is done by your PS and if it is limited to 4 colours or something like that.
Kyla will want you to wait a least 6 months from your last surgery before she tattoos. I remember my PS said I could get tattoo after 3 months, but Kyla wanted to err on the side of caution. You may want to book ahead, because Kyla only sees maybe 4 patients a day.
Good luck!! -
thanks ladies!
its a bit far for me but if she's that good I will drive to Peterborough! beats flying to see Vinnie hahahahaha -
Sosmom - thank you for your post. I contacted Kyla and have an appt for 3D areola tatoos scheduled for August. Apparently she's been off work due to back surgery so she's booking further out. If anyone else has gone to Kyla, I'd love to hear about your experience. I'm in Ottawa, but haven't been able to find anyone in town who specializes in this area.

Hello! I hope all is well with your reconstruction and you have found someone who can do your areola reconstruction (tattoos) for you.
If not, I am letting you know that I, myself do them. I am A Tat of Class (artist Jennette Conners). I have 2 locations in Niagara. St Catharines and Fort Erie. Both of my locations are in day spa environments, not tattoo shops. I do areola reconstruction as well as coverup tattoos.
Please go to A Tat of Class Facebook page! My website will be updated by Nov 1/14.

Hello to all,
My name is Kieran Artist/Tattooist and my Wife is Aida we own and operate a Tattoo/Art studio in the Mississauga region and have been in business for the last 10 years!
Forgive me for saying ?? But you are placing a $ amount on a procedure that will be with you for life! Believe me, i get it? ita a chunk of change to come up with all at once?!! but you are paying for the skill, the complexity, re-production of a Aereola/Nipple that requires the eye of what a portrait needs to be successful.
Think about it??Your bodies have been invaded by an entity, a poison, that has disrupted the way you live?... getting something as personally as this that will erase the turmoil you went though?? I dont think you can place an amount on this???
We are here to let the woman know that we are offering our services?
Last yr a close friend of my wifes was diagnosed with cancer in one breast,. She has suffered with MS for the last 20 yrs so to be hit with this is the last thing she needed?
She opted for both breasts to be removed ? scared and paralyzed by the mere thought it would return, but she went through with it and she is doing well, she is scheduled for her re-contructive surgery and has made plans to come to me to get the aereolas/nipples tattooed back on?
Just a little advice? if the Artist can do Portraits (painting, Drawing ) and Tattoo, then they can certainly Tattoo a aereola nipple,.
If you are interested and care to view my work please visit www.thetalismanstudio.com or facebook/thetalismanstudio
thanking you
Kieran
