Jianchi......I was terrified just before getting my official diagnosis that I was Stage IV. This because I had a nasty virus that was going around!!! Of course, as I got better, I laughed at my worries. I went on a long cycling trip to get my head together.

You should know that cancer spreads through the bloodstream and via lymphatic fluid. Coughing won't do it. Which reminds me to make sure you get a flu shot and DTAP. Because you don't want any of these things happening to you while being treated.

I think I was lucky that I am do endurance events, so am always hurting. Right now, it hurts to sit down. No, I don't think I have mets in my glutes/hips. I think they are protesting from the 80 miles of cycling I did this weekend. Fortunately, my pulled shoulder healed just before treatment.

I was also one of the lucky ones whose final diagnosis was better than assumed going in.

You will feel much better as you move forward and know what's what. Feel better and RELAX.....because you will get there. Get out in the sunshine (if this fog ever lifts). Sending you a major hug. - Claire

    Claire,

So touched with your words! I am afraid of lung cancer as both my grandma (father's side) and my dad died of lung cancer and lung disease. My dad died when he was 50. Whenever things happen, I always prepare for the worst. I know it's not healthy, however, the ways you think relates with your life experience. Too many bad things happened in my childhood...

I am eating pretty healthy now but doing 0 exercise. You sound very athletic, good for you! I am going for a walk tomorrow morning with my American relative. Try to do a little exercise every day as my Dr. suggests.

I am grateful to have met so many nice people on the forum. You are one of them!

    Take care.

Thank you, yorkiemom. Doctors are good, however, they are not cancer patients, not sure they understand us emotionally.

Jianchi.....lung disease runs in my family too. That is the one I was worried about (plus diabetes on the other side). Exercise is the best way to avoid lung problems. Plus, not smoking which did in my mother and 1of2 of her brothers.

Walking and exercise in general clears your brain and helps you think straight. Plus endorphins help your outlook on life. At this point, I use exercise to boost my brain power. Important for someone who makes her living as a "knowledge worker". Having train drivers stop to take a good look isn't so bad either!

You will be fine. Just do that walk.....things will look much better. Promise. - Claire
