I have stage iv bc mets to nodes in neck, auxilla, chest. Also le in trunk axilla. They want to biopsy auxilla. Should I be concerned about le. Would it be better do do biopsy of neck node?

bh1, why do they want to do either biopsy? Will it change your treatment? No point to a test if the results aren't going to help make a decision.

If the neck node can be easily biopsied with a needle and local anesthesia, maybe it's preferred.

I always go by the " exactly how will this benefit me? And is it essential for decision making" rule-- at this point.

Still wondering why the need for a biopsy.

oh Kira yes it is necessary. If a person w metastatic bc is not responding to chemo , there is a chance over a period of time that the er or her2 status of her cancer has changed. If so treatments will be very different . Also they can use the biopsy to test for different treatments and sensitivities

Totally makes sense, then I'd go for the biopsy that is easiest for the surgeons and causes the least trauma to you. The most important thing is that you get the best treatment.

Hoping the biopsy helps them come up with effective treatment.
