Hi...I am having my gall bladder removed this week. I have been talking to a few sisters on facebook and a few have had the same surgery after treatment. Was wondering how widespread it is? Can it be that it has been damaged by chemo? Mine only functions 7%. just wondering.....I am a survivor of 7 1/2 years.

Yup, though I have no idea if this was chemo related or not. Chemo in 2005. Gallbladder removed in 2010. My gallbladder was functioning at 0%. I was one sick puppy.

Have had not one moment's trouble since then. I had a great surgeon, thank goodness since the surgery turned into a 5-hr ordeal.

My sister had her gallbladder removed before chemo, so in her case, not related at all.

Hope this helps you in your non-scientific survey.

Thanks Susan. Sorry to hear it was a long surgery but glad you are doing well. I am just curious about this all. I hate surgeries ( I have had many since bc dx). I am always a nervous wreck! Good health to you!!

I just had a CT scan and an ultrasound done on my gallbladder.Since my first diagnosis in 2009, my gallbladder goes from being angry to fine and now back to angry. Yesterday the chemo doctor is talking about surgery to remove it. I'm afraid of having it out because of another incision that hasn't healed yet because of chemo.

    Hoping the best for you.
