Invasive ductal carcinoma
hi everyone, i am 24 years old. I have a lump on my left breast and i thought it was just and ordinary lump and when i realized that it's getting bigger I consulted my doctor and did a lot of test. Last september 26, 2013 my doctor confirmed it that i have IDC stage 1, i just had mri the other day and sooner i'll be having my first surgery. I already spoke with my breast surgeon and my oncologist and discussed all the possible treatments and procedure that i'll be going through the entire battle of my cancer. I am married for 3 years with no kids yet. Before i was diagnosed with cancer my husband and i are so eager to have a kids to make our marriage a lil bit more exciting with our little ones until we heard the sad news from my doctor last september. My first priority on this battle is to be cancer free and be as healthy as i could be that is why i am willing to undergo any treatments just to get rid of my cancer and one option of the treatment is chemotherapy, we all know that one of the side effects of chemo is infertility. It breaks my heart knowing the fact that there will be a possibility that i could not bear a child in the future. I know my husband do understand everything that i am going through right now and will always be on my side but as a partner/ wife i feel so down with all these things in life. For me i feel like our marriage wont be complete if i couldn't bear a child or i couldn't give him even one child in the future. Please help me find some support group that could help me in my concern. God Bless us all!

I was much older than you when I was diagnosed, past childbearing years. But .....
There are reports on this forum of many BC survivors who successfully became mothers after chemo. Check out this: Young with Breast Cancer . And this thread on there: Baby after Treatment Some chose to freeze their eggs before chemo, but others did not. But many got pregnant & had healthy babies after chemo! There may be other threads on this forum about this issue, too -- these are the ones I found with a quick search. Have you discussed these issues with your doctors? They may be able to help you here -- even if the first priority is treating the cancer, but the next is quality of life.
Best of luck to you, both in fighting your cancer and in future motherhood! -
I was just diagnosed with IDC. What is your update? Have you had surgery? -
