HealthDay (10/10, Thompson) reports on a letter from researchers from the University of Paris Descartes published in the Oct. 10 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine, which said the cancer drug sorafenib (Nexavar) may “have a toxic effect on the pancreas of patients who take it for extended periods.” According to the researchers, “CT scans showed that long-term use may cause a patient’s pancreas to shrink by as much as one-third.” Medscape (10/10) also reports on the story.
