Muscle shrinkage(?) after rads?

I completed 33 radiation treatments just over a year ago. It's been a wonderful time to be "done" with treatment - except, as we all know, the gift of cancer tends to be one of those that "keeps on giving."

About seven months ago I ended up with severely limited ROM in the rads (left) shoulder. It's like it came on overnight - literally. Very often I would sleep on my stomach, with my left arm under my head. One morning I woke up in excrutiating pain, unable to move my arm up and down. Six weeks of PT helped with some of the pain, but the ROM is still very limited. I do yoga and work to continue to stretch the muscles in my arm and across the front of my chest, but they are so incredibly tight, and I wonder if I'll ever get that ROM back to near-normal levels again.

Has anyone else had similar challenges and, if so, what's been your outcome? Thanks!

Hi there Nancy - I am in the same boat as you - shoulder PAIN!  Months after my radiation was finished.  Just got my MRI results - Arthritis and Bursitis -  soooo I had to ASK for PT.  How are you doing?  Please write.
