worried, havent been checked in 3 yrs
Hello,
I haven't been to these boards for a while since I hoped to move on and forget cancer. I also haven't been checked for 3 years because I thought all was well. I don't have insurance, so that is a factor as well. I decided it was time to get some things checked out. I started with my PRIMARY Dr. since most of my issues were because of menopause. Mostly night sweats and weight gain, insomnia, aches and pains. (I'm 56) He suggested antidepressant and Lunesta for sleep. It makes me too groggy the next day. ANYWAY, he did some blood work and everything came back normal except low vitamin d, which I supplemented with HIGH dose for 4 weeks. I am scheduled with a new oncologist next week and hope I can get some scans to make sure all is good. I've had stomach issues, (blo
ating, diarrhea) very fatigued, dizzy, lumps in groin area, pain in right ribcage
, concerned that my implants are leaking etc., etc. Guess I needed to vent!! I am concerned that maybe I have a recurrence, so I've been reading here a lot and trying to see how everyone is handling their issues and fears.
I was diagnosed in 2008 with LCIS and Drs. Suggested mastectomy since it was in all quadrants. I had complete bilateral with immediate reconstruction and all went well. In 2009, my gyn suggested hysterectomy because of my trouble with fibroids. I did well with that surgery, but of course the instant menopause and eventual weight gain has been crummy. So I just wanted to introduce myself, say hello and let you all know that I get great comfort reading your posts and can feel some of your pains and worry . I'm so glad to hear from other ladies or men who are dealing with these same issues. Thank you and you are in my prayers. By the way, my LCIS was found to have a micro invasion, so it was the right decision for me to have the surgery. So many people kept saying " LCIS is not cancer, why are you being so aggressive?" Glad I listened to my Dr. Never had chemo or radiation...no Tamoxifen. Hope I get to the bottom of these new issues and can report something other than recurrence or Mets. Sorry for the book...can't sleep!!!
