MRI biopsy

I'm new to posting. I was diagnose in November 2012 with ILC. I was 51 premenopausal. Had a lumpectomy and radiation and now on tamoxifen. I had a mammogram in July that showed six new calcifications. I had a biopsy and it came back negative. I just had an MRI a little more than a week ago. It came back showing two things in my left breast one of them in the tumor site and one in my right breast. They did an ultrasound. They could only really see the one in the tumor site which is 3cm. My BS is sending me for an MRI guided biopsy. She was very reassuring. She feels it is much to early for there to be a reoccurrence. She feels it is probably scar tissue. Plus having radiation and have been on tamoxifen since April. I guess I'm wondering if anyone has gone through this or has had an early reoccurrence. I'm doing my best to remain positive but can't help but worry.

I also finding myself wondering if I should have Mastectomy.  It was never really even suggested.  From the moment I was diagnosed the surgeon (I have a breast surgeon now) said lumpectomy and radiation.  I hate the thought of going through this everytime I have a mammogram or MRI.

Hi, Kleenie. Sorry you're going through this. I hope you'll have answers soon as the waiting is hard. Thinking positive, this is a rather slow growing type, they say.

Re mastectomy, mine was multifocal at dx so lumpectomy wasn't an option. I had a left mastectomy. Still have to scan rightie but so far really all clear. I am a wreck before scans but still ok w my decision to preserve one breast. Did no chemo, no rads. Tamoxifen for 2.5 yrs, now femara for another 5, i think.

You may want to get a second opinion? Wishing you well, please keep us posted and here to be leaned on....

    Hi Shari,

thank you for replying.  I have my MRI biopsy this Friday.  Everything I have read is that this is slow growing too.  With this spot being 3 cm is just has to be scar tissue.  It is just hard not to worry.  When I was originally diagnosed I had a general surgeon.  I later switched to a breast surgeon that I have now who I love and trust.  My original surgeon had me in for surgery within two weeks of being diagnosed.  Looking back I just wished I had a little time to digest everything and get more info.  Again thank you for replying.

No words of wisdom here either just sending you positive thoughts and please post back when you get your results.

I had a lump under my scar right after surgery (I first had lumpectomy but refused rads because I knew I was going in for a bx mastectomy---I'm a worrier).  My surgeon was very sweet and scheduled an excision immediately.  It was just fatty tissue.

I hope you have equally uneventful news.

Thank you wallycat for the positive thoughts.  Good to hear your lump turned out to be nothing but fatty tissue.  I'm sure mine is going to be scar tissue.  3cm seems rather big to be cancer after less than a year.  I'm sure in a week I will be posting good news from my biopsy results.

    Thanks for replying.
