Having some issues, need advice

10 days ago I finished 30 radiation treatments for mets to my sternum. At the 4 week point of my treatment (Labor Day) I suddenly got a pain mid chest that felt like I had been stabbed mid chest and got a tight bear hug at the same time. The pain slowly subsided over a 15 minute period and hasnt recurred since. I reported it to the radiation oncologist the next day and all she said was "lets hope that was the last gasp of the tumor".  However now each day since rads treatment stopped I feel physically weaker every day. 3 months ago I was also switched from Femara to Aromasin by my medical oncologist.

Problem with these people is that the two oncologists only care about the things related to their respective fields. Odd thing is I didn't really burn during radiation at all. My healthy breast got a little reddish pink but thats about it.

My radiation oncologist told me I would feel worse before I felt better but I assumed she meant during the treatment, not feeling a little weaker every day after it ended.  So is this a typical radiation side effect that will go away eventually? An Aromisin side effect? My PCP is a PA and I'm probably smarter than she is so going to her is next to useless.

Anyone have any advice?

Hello. I'm so sorry for your suffering. The pain in the chest should be taken seriously. It could be unrelated to cancer, but maybe to your heart. I'd go to ER for sure.

I too am having really rough fatigue since my radiation ended last week. It just started the last couple of days but it's feeling like the day after surgery kind of exhaustion. And I haven had 2 days like this in a row, ever.

How long has yours been going on?

Ever since my radiation ended 10 days ago. That chest pain was on Sept 2nd and hasn't come back since. I will tell the medical oncologist when I see him thisafternoon though to see what he says. Thanks.

While I agree that you should definitely see a Dr. to be safe; I wanted to let you know that the 2 weeks following my treatments were some of the hardest.  I was told that the radiation would continue to do it's job, thus feeling "worse before you feel better".  The RO warned me that it would take about 3 weeks to start turning the corner.

Good Luck, I hope it isn't anything else to worry about.
