Air travel after MUGA test

Just thought I would pass on some info re air travel across borders after MUGA test.

I had my MUGA on a Friday and fortunately mentioned to them that I was flying to the States the next day.  (We live in Canada).  I was given a form to take to the airport to indicate that I had had a MUGA test, which involves radiation.

And it's a good thing I did!  We were stopped at US customs because I set off all of their alarms - silent alarms, I might add.  Our boarding passes and passports were taken away and we were taken into a separate holding area.  Everything ended up being fine, but this "investigation" added about 30 minutes on to our process at the airport.  When I asked what the issue was, I was told that they had to make sure I wasn't a terrorist with a "dirty bomb"!!

This was all as a result of the radiation involved in MUGA tests - you know, the radiation that they tell you is an "insignificant" amount and that will in essence disappear 6 hours after the test is done?  yeah, right. However, I came back across the border 14 days later and I did not trigger the alarm (but maybe we in Canada don't screen for that).

This airport screening is not done within the country, I don't think - it was just an issue because I was crossing the border.  But it might involve more than the Canada/U.S. border.

So if you are travelling to another country after a MUGA test, best to ask about it.
