ways to get protein during rads?

Options

Hi, all--I'm hearing a lot about eating lots and lots of protein during radiation and am wondering if anyone has any ideas/tricks about how to make sure this happens. I'm not a huge eater in general, plus I have two little kids and I work--in other words, I can't imagine myself sitting down to a nice steak dinner every night or anything like it. If anyone has any good tips for me, I'd love to hear them. I am doing the Canadian protocol--16 treatments and 5 boosts, so fortunately it's not too much time, but I'm eager to minimize side effects of all kinds as much as possible (see: two little kids, job!). Thanks and hope everyone is feeling well today.

I did not have rads, but did have a bunch of surgery and chemo, so needed lots of protein. Here are some good and easy sources: Greek yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, protein bars, cottage cheese, turkey breast, almonds, tuna.

Hi Kika - you're going to rock rads!

Hydration is key...so a protein icy in morning and afternoon worked well for me. Use Atkins caffe mocha and blend in 4-5 cups crush ice...also organic Greek yogurt with pineapple&almonds...yum. And salmon and tuna...aim for 70 grams...fatigue hit on days hydration was low...so drink up!

Make it fun...kids make post it stickers to make you&rad team laugh...

Shark biting tats, dancing warriors or praying stick people...does radiation make my butt look bigger. Something to bring a smile to your heart and know those cuties are cheering for mom!
