I've had 20 radiation treatments out of 33.  I did have lumpectomy (1.1 cm) and sentinel node biopsy in mid-July.  I have noticed that my treated breast is 1/2 the size of the other one and I've read this is permanent. (I'm a 42B) The nipple is not responsive and I have a lovely tan.  I know they do reconstruction with mastectomies but will they do one with me or just say live with it?  

I did not expect such a dramatic reaction like this so I am having a hard time.

You can have fat transfer and a reduction on other side but you need to wait about a year after rads.....

I'm doing rads now and was told by my RO that radiation would shrink my bc breast. It was already a bit smaller and higher than my other breast due to the lumpectomy. I had considered a breast reduction before my BC dx (42 DDD) and asked my RO if that could be done after treatment to "even things up" and get a reduction as well. She said yes, absolutely and it is required by insurance companies to cover it (due to a recent law-not sure of the specifics). She said I had to wait 6 months after rads were over before I could have the surgery. So, I say go for it!

Hi TP, give it time.  It is possible that the appearance of the breast will change with time.  Mine did. Swelling and scar tissue are my friend (puffed it out--so I was less self-conscious about wearing a bathing suit).  Yes you can have oncoplasty or get a partial breast prosthesis, if necessary.

Hi,

5 years out. My bad boob is much smaller. Nipple points north. On the good boob it point south. 

I have not pursued getting it fixed.  No more surgery for me unless it is needed.

I am only a 34A.
