Long-Term Chemo Effect?

Options

It has been about three years since my last chemo treatment, and my intestines still aren't normal. During treatment, I had terrible diarrhea, nonstop, for months and took several Imodium tablets every day. Now, I am having the opposite problem. No matter how much fiber and water I drink, my stools are dry and often hard to pass. Citrucel and Metamucil aren't much help either. Prunes help a bit. My stools sometimes resemble little balls. I am just wondering if anyone has experienced something like this as a long-term effect of chemo or Femara. Thanks for your responses!

I am still receiving chemo so can't talk about the long-term effects, yet.  However I drink prune juice, eat high fiber foods + take psyllium husks.  This seems to keep me regular during chemo.

Have you tried eating raw foods or juicing?

Patsy, you might want to call your oncologist's office and see if there is a gastroenterologist they refer to regularly, and then go see him or her.

The problem isn't new, and I've spoken to my doctor. It's just frustrating. I don't know what the unspoken long-term effects of chemo are, I guess, and didn't know if this could be one. I get regular screening for blood in stool.
