Newly diagnosed with LCIS with Breast Implants

I am a 39-year-old female that was just diagnosed with LCIS yesterday; the call from my doctor was informative and unclear.  He said he would be referring me to a surgeon to remove more of the tissue, which I am gathering from what I have read in some of the forums is to see if any else more serious is lurking outside of the what the core needle biopsy picked up.  I have not consulted with the surgeon yet for I just found out yesterday.  I am just wondering if anyone with breast implants has had this done or if it can even be done. I know that it was difficult for doctor to do the needle biopsy for the microcalcification was located close to the implant.  Any information helps.  For I am already nervous of this diagnosis as well as terrified of surgery now that I am older.

I don't know the answer to your question, since I don't have implants (but do have classic LCIS).  But this might be a good question for the Before, During, and After Surgery forum. http://community.breastcancer.org/forum/91  Your question is not specific to LCIS: if a woman with a breast implant has invasive breast cancer, at some point from what I understand they'd normally want to consider surgery.

I'm not sure if my experience will help you because my situation is different, but I had implants put in back in 1979, I never had them removed or replaced, just this year when I was diagnosed with Invasive, Well-differentiated ductal carcinoma, I chose bilateral mastectomy.  

I'm nearly at 7 or 8 weeks post-op and my surgeon gave me the report of everything that happened during my surgery, there was a notation that the implant on my right breast (the one that had cancer and the core biopsy) had "leaked", silicone gel had spread through the calcification area... I did not know this at the time of my last visit with the surgeon, otherwise, I would have asked her if this implant burst during surgery or was burst prior to surgery, like maybe during the core biopsy.

I know that it is NOT typical for implants to last 35 years, but mine did!  My left one was intact when they removed my left breast.
