I have bc, but er/pr+.. my friend was dx'd June with TNBC and is started chemo with AC+T and then rads, and the thing is, all 12 nodes were pos, but they have NOT found the original tumor. They did every test imaginable on her, and ruled out other cancers telling her the original tumor is occult, cant find it. So they are treating her for bc and praying it kicks it into remission. Any tips for me to tell her? So far shes having trouble keeping any weight on and the onco wont prescribe Marinol..i had no problem getting it, dont understand. The next thing is horrible indigestion (assuming thats the decadron), she's on prilosec (personally find that a weak drug)..so far I've told her the standard advice about issues such as constipation, drinking water, plastic utensils, water water, and everything else, but she says she just cant eat. Anything she ever loved she has no desire for.. the latest symptom is she says she's having trouble talking, we cant decide if its that she's too tired to talk, or cant think to talk. I told her to tell that to her onco, because we dont understand what she means..Please say prayers and I'll say prayers for you all too.. Hugs, Peachy..

So sorry about your friend's TNBC dx, and all of problems she's having.

You mentioned that she's having chemo and then rads.  Is she having surgery after the chemo?  Sometimes occult tumors are found during pathology, although in rare cases, they're never found.

I'm not TNBC, but I wondered if your friend has considered getting a second opinion from a different medical team -- preferably @ an NCI-designated cancer center that's known to specialize in TNBC, on the chance they can find something her present docs may have missed?    Deanna
