Hi all- I had bmx w/te in August, 1 1cm invasive tubular on left, 1 1.9 cm dcis and a 2.2 cm combo ILC/IDC on the right... my oncotype score (I verify today with oncologist) is a 2..super low.  Im 56...0/6 nodes.

Anyone with that rough dx still been recommended for any chemo?

Aviva - I was multifocal, two tumors, oncotype 19, and did not do chemo. However, I have always been haunted by the fact that my oncotype was only done for one of the tumors. With a score of 2, chemo would probably do you more harm than good. But, maybe for your peace of mind, you can ask about testing the other tumors? Some ladies here have done this and have gotten different scores for each tumor.

thanks-- the other was a dcis which they dont test he said, and a small tubular, which is the least aggressive. Had the MO appointment today, he confirmed score of 2, and a 4% reccurr. rate, so == no chemo. Starting arimidex tomorrow tho.  I was pretty sure thatd be how it came out, and am relieved it is.

I had a stage 1 grade 1.6cm tumor without lymph node involement on the right. On the left I had a stage 2 grade 1 tumor with 2 positive nodes. Before I had the oncotype done, my MO told that adding chemo to my plan would only reduce my chance of DFS@ 10years by 6%. He based this on my node positive tumor. He left the decision to me. I fought to get the oncotype & was only able to get it done on the node positive tumor. It came back 4. From looking at the graft that came with my report, there was no benefit. I skipped chemo. I was just exhausted, getting additional opinions & frustrated with doctors that weren't communicating with one another. Part of me just wanted to walk away from it all. Since with surgery alone I had a 75% DFS.

As far as decision making, chemo was the one I struggled with. I had no problem going the BMX route without reconstruction. I had no problem deciding not to having additional lymph nodes taken out even if it meant RADs.

I was 52 when diagnosed. I don't regret not doing chemo.

The MO showed me the oncotype test results- they have a graph on there showing your score vs potential risk reduction (Im sure Im not explaining it well),  and for such low scores there is basically 0 benefit to the chemo. He said they go more by the score / risk factor than size of tumors. Im sure if there are many and all huge that might be different.
