About to start radiation

Options

I finished my last round of chemo on 9/3 and will have to do radiation as well, I have not yet met with the ro and was just wondering what to expect or if any questions I should make sure to ask or even any helpful suggestions before beginning the treatments. I went into chemo without any info except what my onc and nurses told me and im convinced they are all liars! Just kidding but everything they said wouldnt happened (because of my age etc) did. And I dont want to go thru that again.

Thanks.

Theresa

I am about to go meet my RO for the first time on Tuesday.  Not sure what to ask either other than recommendations for moisturizer before and after treatments.

Here are some questions I found helpful:

What are the benefits of having this radiation? (They gave me survival stats)

What kind of side effects should I expect?

Are there long term side effects or effects on other organs or tissues (like lung/liver/ribs)?

Where exaclty will be radiated and why (lymph, which ones, where, why)

What can I do now to prepare for time during treatment? (I recommend making some meals and freezing them for when you're not up to cooking)

How can I reach you if something comes up during the night or on a weekend?

Are there any supplements I should stop taking?

Hope that helps! All the best to you. You'll get through it!
