Well, I'm back. It's been nearly 11 months on the tamoxifen. I've been doing ok with the hot flashes, seeing an acupuncturist which is super helpful. My weight has become more of a battle - I notice that if I do intermittent fasting I'm fine, but once I eat like a "normal person", or like I used to, I blow up. I'm also ridiculously moody - I watch as if I am not in my own body, and I've been freaking out on my poor husband. It's just awful. I don't know how to reign myself in. I just go. I also had a bone scan a few months back and now have osteopenia - at 42! Totally due to the tamoxifen. I'm seriously considering stopping now. 11 months is better than none, but is my life worth prolonging when the side effects affect me like this? Ugh. I hate this.

bumping for twinmamaheather - this is not the thread I thought I would find, but it's on topic for you!

I wonder if nycmom3 has talked to anyone at her clinic: some women get help from a nurse or social worker who can be a sounding board for the frustrations which can be overwhelming. They might suggest trying a low dose of Effexor: good for mood elevation as well as controlling hot flashes...

Why are there so few positive posts about Tomoxifen? Can anyone share which manufacturer puts the least fillers in it? I started on it about a month ago, have severe hot flashes, bad headaches, and pains throughout my body. I also had some digestive problems. But somehow I'm here and still breathing, so I am going to continue. I'm menopausal but cannot take the AI's, because I have osteoporosis. Any info you can share about fillers would be much appreciated. I noticed almost no one answers my posts :-(. And so many of the posts and on certain topics seem to be years and years old. I often wonder if the people who posted a still alive? Thank you!

I have been taking Mylan brand for just over a month now and so far no side effects (touch wood). I have no clue if it has less fillers but I read recommendations for this brand on other posts. Good luck

I am taking Actavis brand and have had little to no problems. I have only been on it 2 months and hope it continues

I know this is an old thread but I've been on tamoxifen and I feel better than I've felt since going into chemo pause. I'm 45 and had no signs of menopause so I took lupron shots for ovary protection during chemo. My lab work still shows menopause but after starting tamoxifen what remaining hot flashes I had are a lot less in frequency and not near as bad as they were on lupron. Wine seems to bring on hot flashes for me so it's no big deal to me to avoid that. I think it stimulated my ovaries to do something other than just sit there and play dead. I swear I think I ovulated last week. Anyway, I was really dreading taking it because of all the negatives I readbut so far so good.

I've read nothing but negative comments about tomoxifen, glad to see not everyone has bad SE's. Only been taking A1 for 2 weeks but due to osteopenia my Endo suggested Evista or Tomoxifen. My MO has agreed to Tomoxifen. I've had little side effect to the A1, some joint pain and occasionally hot flash. So I guess I'm going to try it for 30 days and see. Hopefully I will be one of the lucky ones in regard to low side effects. Ive been taking the Prolia injection for bone density which has improved as this wee
