catching a cold during rads?

Options

hi all,

I just finished my 11th treatment and have a quick question - i have caught a cold - symptoms are pretty normal, sneezing, stuffy, sore throat, etc. but i cannot get out of bed. i feel like my legs are made of lead. no or low temp on and off all day. Just rest, right? i don't need to call the doctor or anything?

I assume that my body is fighting off 2 attacks and has no energy left for me?  I wake up for an hour and have to go right back to sleep.

Did they ever tell you what to do during rads if you got sick?

ealga, we're sorry that you're dealing with a cold, as well as BC! Although it isn't specifically about having a cold during rads, there are a couple of suggestions in the Staying on Track with Radiation section of the main Breastcancer.org site that may be helpful to you.

Other members may post with their suggestions, or how they have dealt with similar situations too. Hope you feel better soon!

I too caught a cold during rads and all I did was make sure to have a really good cough suppressant so I'd not cough and move on the table.  I took a swig just before lying down and never coughed.

I caught a nasty chest cold during rads, and it didn't affect my treatment - there were a couple days where I needed to pop a strong cough drop right before getting on the table so I wouldn't cough and move, but it wasn't a big deal otherwise.

Thanks, all, for your replies. I'm feeling so much better today and ready to face the enemy tomorrow ;-)

Do call before your next treatment. The doctor or nurse may have suggestions to help you deal with it.
