Done with radiation

Options

I just want to encourage anyone who is about to start rads. I have just completed 28 rounds of 4 fields and 5 boosts to mastectomy scar. I was so terrified during the first week. I nearly hyperventilated during my first session. I cried thru the 3rd and 4th sessions. Now, six weeks later, all is well. The only side effect I experienced was pink skin in the superclav area. I have not been tired. My skin did not blister or peel. No pain. My platelet count is a little low, but not concerning to r.o. Best of luck if you are starting rads. I wish I had not used so much energy being terrified. Easy for me to say now, huh?

Thought I'd chime in too, Coredia! I finished 6 weeks of rads this spring with no problems whatsoever! I had discoloration and turned pretty red about a week after treatment ended, but there was no pain involoved for me. I wasn't tired either. Hope this eases the fear of those about to begin treatment! I know how nice words of encouragement can be before you begin each new phase!

    Good luck to all!
