when to start tx for bone mets

I hope I am posting in the right place. As some of you know, I had a "suspicious for mets" on my posterior rib, after to ct scans(back in Dec) follow up with bone scan, which nothing showed. Followed again in March with 3rd ct scan, spot is still there with no progression. That was MARCH. My oncologist has decided not to continue to run tests and scans unless or until I develop symptoms .I had no pain March checkup May check up or July checkup. But between July and Sept I started to have some pulling and uncomfortableness under the shoulderblade where the rib in question is.Went to my follow upSept9 with the same feeling in the area. But no pain that is any different than my usual lower back issues. My oncologist said that she could do another ct scan,if I wanted but because my symptoms are so vague she said she was not concerned enough to run them, at this time. She still says the rib is still questionable, but at this time this could possibly be a single met to the bone,at which if anything at this point I could have a bit of radiation to "get it", but both she and my medical oncol, would not treat it with chemo at this point. As some of you know I am triple neg. and had pneumonia back in Dec in hospital 2 weeks from the taxotere, so my chemo was stopped.I really trust my ro, but I don't understand that if I had a single met to rib, why both my oncols, would not treat it at this point. The spot is or was very small, so the bone biopsy was not done, I just wonder if it is protocol, not to treat a single small bone met, right away? I read about people just dx with bone mets, then they are put on all sorts of drugs.I haven't been conclusively dx yet, so I told my oncol, if at this point they wouldnt treat it if found, I said no point in having another ct yet. Hope somebody can answer this for me..Anybody have this happen,or know why they don't treat 1 small met?
