Lung Mets Symptoms and Allergies

Options

I am new to posting, so I hope this is the best place to ask this question.  I was dx with Stage II in July of 2012. Had a right mx and reconstruction. No lymph node involvement, and only recommended to Tamoxifen. I couldn't tolerate it, and therefore, have had no further treatment. I am supposed to meet with my onc at Mayo on October 1.  I live in Chicago, and had to travel there for a fat necrosis surgery in February. I should have followed up in August, but have just been too busy.

I have had a couple of small scares, a new lump in the contralateral breast, which per US and MRI seems to be a cyst (and it probably is, as it is slowly disappearing). However, I am beginning to feel like a hypochondriac, as I now have extremely sore areas around the reconstructed breast. I realize this is probably costochondritis, but I am also having issues with my breathing.  Last month I had a dry cough and difficulty breathing for around 10 days. No other symptoms, except my sinuses got stuffy toward the end of that time.  One of the last days this occurred, it got so bad that my husband insisted on taking me in to the ER.  They did a lung X-ray, clear; blood work, clear for infection and heart problems; gave me a breathing treatment (which didn't really help) and sent me home with an appointment for my GP.  Two days later I felt much better and called my doctor and told her I would reschedule if I felt worse.

I thought it was a fluke and didn't really worry about it any more, but did make my appt to see my onc. Three days ago the cough started again our of the blue.  Just a slight, dry, tickle at the base of my lungs, worsening if I try to breathe really deeply.  Now the breathing is getting worse again, and it is sapping my energy.  It is the third day and I now have some nasal congestion.  I have never had any allergy issues, however, I know they can start at any time.

I am wondering if anyone who knows anything about lung mets could tell me if they get worse during allergy season?  Has anyone had similar symptoms and discovered mets?  I was thinking of requesting an IgE blood test for allergy symptoms before I head out to my onc appt. I need to know what's going on, but don't want all the radiation of the CT if it's just allergies. Any advice or opinions from anyone would be greatly appreciated!

Thank youSmile
