Painful Esophagus during treatment.

Options

I was supposed to complete 20 tad sessions on my thoracic spine area. They started in doing that when suddenly I was in a LOT of pain from my shoulder area. Scan showed it was the collar bone on my right side. it had two big holes in it where the cancer had eaten right through the bone. The R/O was not surprised I was in so much pain when he saw the scan. anyway, we stopped the thoracic spine for awhile and began the collar bone. It was about half way thru or better before I startted to get pain relief but I did. Eventually get it and the collar bone is much better now. during the radiation, however, I started to get some pain in my esophagus very time I ate or drank anything. I only have two sessions left to complete now but my esophagus is suddenly very painful again. When it happened before the R/O. Just gave me some days off to let it settle down. But it's even worse this time which does annoy me because they knew I had this problem. And here it has happened again. I anyone has not experienced this side effect of rads, it is really quite painful. When it's bad enough I just cannot swallow anything. No liquids even. I am letting water just sort of slip down my throat hoping it won't cause it to spasm. I hate this!

Does anyone have any good ideas or remedies for when the esophagus gets hit with rads? I. Know they are supposed to make sure they avoid it but I guess I am proof they do not always succeed. Any helpful hints, Ladies? I could sure use some help.
