Best medical oncologists at MSKCC
I am looking to switch my medical oncologist. I went to private oncogolist but would like to switch over MSKCC. I had an agressive form of tumor er/pr negative Her2 positive and it felt it grew pretty quickly. was shocked initially and didn't have much chance to shop around. I had an average experience with my oncologist and I'm looking to switch over to big place with more research experience.
Can anybody recommend a really competent medical oncologist at MSKCC in NYC or New Jersey (Basking Ridge) for Breast Cancer in women 40 and under.

Sophie, I have an appointment at Mskcc on Wednesday and will be happy to give you my feedback. I am meeting with Dr. Monica Morrow, but don't have the name of the medical oncologist yet. One of my closest friends is being treated by Dr. Malamud (spelling?) her husband who is a doctor selected him and she cannot say enough about him. She has been going to him for several years. He is affiliated with Beth Israel Hospital.

I consulted with sklarin. Very competent.
Morrow is breast sx. She got good margins on my mastectomy. I could have used PCA after my unilateral mastectomy, but unfortunately i learned too late pca was reserved for bilaterals. -
Sophie, back in 2011 when my mom was diagnosed, I researched MSKCC. At that time, a friend who had BC and is a nurse was being treated there. She recommeded Dr. Cliff Hudis as the Medical Oncologist, Dr. Alesia Port as the Breast Surgeon (although I think she is now at Mt. Sinai) and Dr. Joe Disa as the plastic surgeon. She was not so thrilled with the quality of care at the NJ location -- felt that they were not as good as NYC so you may want o investigate that more.
Depending upon where you live, there is also the option of St. Barnabas in Livingston, NJ. A friend who is a radiation oncologist in South NJ recommended the following people there: Dr. Robert Grossman and Dr. Richard Michaelson and Dr. Stuart Leitner are Medical Oncologists, Dr. Elissa Santoro and Dr. Sarah Schaefer are Breast Surgeons, and Dr. Alison Grann is a Radiation Oncologist.
I have seen Dr. Schaefer at St. Barnabas for a suspicious mass last year. Thank goodness it was benign, but I felt she was excellent.
Hope this helps,
