Shoulder and upper arm pain???

Options

Hello there everyone.  I was wondering if anyone might have some advice for me.  I have had some interesting symptoms with my surgery side arm.  I am 8 years from diagnosis and my shoulder/upper arm on my cancer side have gradually started to hurt worse and worse.  It started with some tightness or so over the last two years.  I have always been dilligent in getting it checked and nothing has showed up as of my last mammo (August 2012). My surgeon has always said everything feels normal, but now it seems to have a slight swell to it and I can't wear my wedding band anymore.  Also, it feels as though there might be some swollen brachial nodes but that is through my google research.  I can't lay on it  and haven't been able to for awhile.  It doesn't really wake me up at night but then I think I avoid it because I never wake laying on it.  I also have tightness and tingling in my fingers on that side while typing and in other various positions.  So, I am going to make a doctor's appt. but I am wondering if anyone has had any mets to the shoulder or upper arm and if so what were your symptoms?  Thank you so much any information is welcomed.  I used to be a member of youngsurvival.org and just feel like you can't connect there anymore, so I am super-glad I found this site. :)

Hi Junebug, I have mets to my upper arm and shoulder but I had no other symptoms than ever increasing pain to the point I didn't know what to do with myself. I also slept on that arm as the pressure seemed to ease the pain somewhat. to me, what you are describing sounds more like lymphadema than mets but its a good thing to get checked out.

So glad you have made that appointment and that you have found a comfortable place to be here. Please let us know what your doc says.

    Love n hugs. Chrissy

Thank you! I appreciate your response.  I will see my doc. this Thurs. so I will have her check it out.  I been doing some research and it looks like LE can return at any point so that what I am hoping it is.  Thanks again.

    Christy :)

Junebug, there is no time limit for lymphedema, and your symptoms sound a lot like LE. There are lots of threads on here about LE and some very knowledgable ladies sharing on them. Check them out, but do go to your doctor!
