Physical activity during chemo

I had a double mastectomy with reconstruction in mid-June and started AC+T chemo treatment six weeks later. I feel fine and continue working full time. I wonder what level of physical activity is appropriate during AC chemo treatment as it is believed to be hard on the heart. Is walking 2-3 miles a day OK? How about more? What did your dr or nurse tell you?

Honestly, I felt too crummy to do much more than exist. More power to you! You could call MO and ask there.

If your doctor clears you, you can return to previous levels of activity and then some.

Running is an integral part of my health - not just physical, but mental. I had a mastectomy with immediate DIEP reconstruction. 6 weeks later I was cleared to run and I was out the door. I ran through my AC chemo and my 12 weekly Taxol with the blessing and encouragement of my MO. And then I ran through radiation treatments.

Doubtful that you will have walking restrictions. And if running is something you'd like to do, check the Running thread. Great group of guy (Adrian) + gals!

Absolutely, keep walking! Anything you can do now will not only help you getting through treatment better, but will help you bounce back faster once you're done. I did AC too and kept exercising for many reasons, including keeping my heart strong.

Another great thread is the 'Lets Post Our Daily Exercise' thread. A great group of ladies in all phases of treatment and beyond.
