After finishing radiation, I had a complete hysterectomy then started tamoxifen. I havent slept through thr night yet, waking every couple of hours. i cant say I have night sweats, just very hot. Is this the tamo? hyst? both? And is there any hope for the future. I am discouraged.

Thstovall - I have to take tamoxifen in the morning otherwise I have trouble sleeping. Also my onco gave me a prescription for Effexor which I take at night. In its lowest dose it is a mild antidepressant, but it knocks me out and I sleep like a baby. It also helps with nights sweats and hot flashes. I've been on tamoxifen for going on 5 months soon and most of the hot flashes and night sweats have diminished. Tamoxifen takes a while to get used to. I can only imagine that it is even tougher with the complete hyster. Hang in there.

Check out the hormonal therapy forum if you haven't already. There is a lot of great information there.

You are, also, going through surgical menopause, which can cause night sweats, hot flashes, heart palpitations and insomnia.  Radiation can cause insomnia issues, as well.  Throw in anxiety for what you are going through and tamoxifen, your poor body is experiencing a massive "whammie".  It will take time to settle down.  Talk to your doctor about your insomnia; perhaps he/she can suggest something that will help.

Thanks, gals. I go back to my Onc on a couple of weeks and definitely will be talking to him.
