A physician's insights on discussing LE risks to patients

Dr. Howard Levin is medical director of Lymphedivas, and he recently posted a very thoughtful discussion of considerations physicians (and presumably surgeons) face when deciding whether or how much to explain to a BC patient about her LE risks. Dr. Levin underscores the problem that the unknowns outweigh the knowns in many dimensions of the LE discussion. His conclusion is that we are better off learning about LE risk, despite (and with full disclosure of) the many shortcomings of LE research that ordinarily we would look to for guidance on risk assessment and on prevention strategies.
