Dexamethasone - weight gain

I am terrified of this.  How much weight am i going to gain on 3 days of this every 3 weeks for four rounds? so basically 12 days over 3 months.  halp!  this is so so scary.

I did six rounds of TC and had dexa before during and after each treatment. I lost a total of 17 lbs on chemo. Everyone is different and everyone reacts to medicine differently. Steroids make some people hungry and retain fluid. Make sure you increase your water intake all during chemo. You will find that it helps a lot. Just take a deep breath and don't expect the worst!

Please try not to freak out about the weight gain while on the TC chemo regimen.  Now is not the time to be on a diet to lose weight but a time to be on a healthy diet to help your body get through the chemo.  I gained a few pounds of fluid through my 6 rounds of Cytoxan/Taxotere.  I lost that fluid weight about a month after my final chemo.  My fluid weight gain was not instantaneous but built up over the rounds of chemo.   It is very important to hydrate and eat well while having chemo.  Wishing you the best.

I just completed 6 rounds of chemo and took dexa before each round for three days. I actually lost 20 lbs during chemo just walking and eating better. It did make me feel a little frantic! I found myself redecorating and doing lots of cleaning the day after taking it! Lol!
