radiation at time of lumpectomy?

I finely saw oncologist Monday. She talked for 2 hours then called me the next day to tell me things she forgot. One thing is that they can now do radiation at the time of a lumpectomy and that is all you need is that one time. Anyone done this?  Thank you.
