Question: re LE and regional spread
Hi, I recovered from stage 2a treatment and started recieving LE drain/massage and treatment. Thereafter I was dx with regional spread. Not present in any organ or breast but in other lymph nodes. Thsi leads me to ask whether anyone knows whether traditional LE treatment (yes, of course by a certified practitioner) might lead to regional spread. I wasn't sure where else to ask this. It could be a fallacity just as the Mayo clinic says that the belief that some have about sugar and cancer is a myth but I am wondering about this. Your guidance and experience is appreciated.
Thank you.

HVV, I'm so sorry about your recent news
. Enough of this beast is enough!
That's a really good question. As far as LE treatment is concerned, it has never been implicated in cancer spread, because the spread of cancer is far more complicated than just moving something (like lymph fluid) from one part of the body to another. Kira has an article she's archived that details new research regarding the mechanism of how cancer spreads which I hope she'll share with you (you can PM her if you'd like), as it's helpful on that score.
I'm really sorry about the stress of this concern, when you're already facing this new diagnosis. Looking forward with you to better news as you start back into treatment!
Gentle hugs,

Thank you Binney. I hope to see the article and learning of a lack fo connection. I was distressed to see soemthing in the ACS website that indicated that this was not clear and of course wanted that not to be true.

Manual lymphatic drainage for LE treatment is only compensating for sluggishness of our normal lymphatic system, right? So, it seems improbable to me that helping to restore our natural lymph movement has any more effect on moving cancer cells than would the natural lymph movement we are attempting to replicate through our MLD. I'm always interested in studies, and I've been surprised many times by what researchers find, but to me, the notion of MLD stimulating cancer spread just does not pass the common sense test.
I've sure never seen any study that suggests that people with LE who are treating their LE have any greater incidence of cancer recurrence. If Kira has any information that might shed some light, I too would love to see it. HVV, I sure hope you can put this particular worry aside...there's enough else to worry about without having to wonder if treatment for LE is compounding matters. Wishing you the best-
Carol

As this came up recently, I emailed the head of the Vodder school and he sent me an article that, supports that MLD will not spread cancer, he did recommend to avoid direct work over the involved nodes.
Too many women with disease progression suffer needlessly, they/ you will feel better with lymphatic drainage and LE treatment.
I've gotten the ACS to update and change their LE pages in the past. They mean well. But LE is not a priority for them. They have been responsive, once I figured out how to get past their first line of responders, who are horrible.

Thanks for weighing in. I did have the treatment and now have a regional spread so the areas where there is spread were unknown to have any involvement/did not have any involvement before the treament. Seems like this is still unsettled. Thanks.
