My Mom (83 yrs old) is looking for similar age to talk with.....

Hi,

Mom was diagnosed with ILC last month. She has to decide if she is having surgery or not. She would like to know if there is anyone her age who has had surgery that she could speak with. (Mom's not on the computer). Right now they have her on the pill therapy. She gets re-tested in August to see if the growth has slowed.

Is there anyone in their 80's we could speak with?

Thanks everyone. Stay strong!

Rhonda

Some suggestions, Rhonda--and I'm sorry for your news.  Call your local American Cancer Society chapter and see if they can connect her with similar folks her age.  Your local hospital/med center depending on how big it is and if you are in or near a metro area might have a support group for older women that have been dx with cancer.

I think we have a forum for older people with breast cancer on these discussion boards...scroll down through "all topics" and see. If she's not on a computer, you could print out the responses or read them with her, and dictate responses for her.

I hope that helps. Come back if you need any support.  Regardless of age, we are all here as sisters for everyone else who gets a dx like your mom's.

    Hugs to both of you.

I am 80 diagnosed in June 2013 ILC stage 2

    Had lumpectomy in July

Had radiation in September....one week 2 treatments a day.

Just starting on Anastrozole a few days ago.

I am ;otherwise healthy, woman. I exercise and live independently in my own apartment

And especially now, eat a healthy diet.

If you send your mothers phone number, I will call her if she lives in USA.
